A ENTREPRENEURIAL SPIRIT
Students from Dania Games in Grenaa (Computer Science and Game Design) are encouraged to start their own production of games and their own game studio prior to graduating. They are trained in project management, teamwork and how to apply theory in practice. This entrepreneurial approach inspires a number of graduates to apply for the Game Hub Denmark incubator after graduation.
B AVAILABILITY OF YOUNG TALENT
A closer link between students from Viden Djurs, Dania Games and the Game Hub, and easier access to the incubation environment at an earlier stage. Events, e.g. the annual “The Game Mile”, with experienced game developers or publishers for first year students to get a taste of Greena’s game ecosystem and environment. The initiative “Game Diversity Denmark” aims for more companies in the environment to attain a higher diversity of employees.
C AVAILABILITY OF EXPERIENCED TALENT
Inviting game experts as guest lecturers and having a constant development of attractive offers and possibilities for students and incubatees in the game ecosystem.
D INTERNATIONAL SUCCESS
Several initiatives to connect companies and investors internationally, driven by a strong interest in building long-lasting relations with China.
E POSITIVE AWARENESS
Good stories about the local gaming community are disseminated locally, regionally, and nationally. A new software development education (Bachelor’s degree), focusing on game development provided a lot of media attention for the game community. Preparing an annual report on the progress in the game incubator for the authorities.
F INVESTMENT ACTIVITIES
The funding climate for the game business is problematic, with a lack of dedicated public funding outside general creative business schemes. Gaming is still included as a prolific upcoming industry in the national Danish business development strategies and programmes. Reaching out to big game companies to discuss possibilities of international collaboration with Scandinavia and China. A new offer, “Art Studio” has been started in the incubator, which supports the graphic side of businesses to reach a stage where they can attract funding and publishers.
G EXISTING GAME COMMUNITY
Created a formal partnership for developing Game Hub Denmark according to their strategy inclusive financially support, and started an informal dialogue with Game Hub Denmark, the local gaming incubation environment. Development of the physical infrastructure “The Game Mile”. Meetings and actions for incorporation are going on with all stakeholders. Midterm evaluation of local / regional game development strategy. Necessary adjustments to the collaborative strategy with Dania Games, Game Hub Denmark, and Norddjurs Municipality.
