Providing information about existing funding. Introducing a dedicated contact person in the city administration. Supporting entrepreneurs with different support measures, e.g. travel grants and increasing the number of people providing business advice. Conducting a study about different support measures targeting audio-visual industries. Hosting evening programme during game events like “Pocket Gamer Connects Helsinki”.

Education system and leisure time game activities. Supporting the transition from education to work and leisure activities. Identifying and creating support measures for students to find their route into the industry. Implementing the Baltic Game Industry project incubator pilot and building a mentoring network. Report of Helsinki’s leisure game activities and development needs.

C AVAILABILITY OF EXPERIENCED TALENT
Recruitment outside Finland is necessary. Discussions with policy makers about red tape. Introducing development agenda for English-language services. Providing support and networking opportunities for spouses. Producing “Games Capital Helsinki” promotion video to attract talents. Reopening the “International House Helsinki”.

Having a pilot event for introducing different funding measures. Overall, there have been quite a lot of investment activities in Finland and Helsinki recently.

In Helsinki, the game community has existed for a long time and is quite strong. “Helsinki Games Capital” is hosting various game community events.

H GAME-SUPPORT LOBBYING WITH POLICY-MAKERS
A dedicated contact person for game business from the city administration has been established. Supporting “Helsinki Games Capital” to facilitate knowledge transfer and matchmaking. Lobbying talent attraction-related topics in spring 2019 when forming the new government and later on.

I GOOD LIVING CONDITIONS
Finland has good living conditions and Helsinki has scored high points in many surveys of quality of living. We supported developing more services in English for international talents.
